I Scream, You Scream…

Good morning everyone!!

Thank you SO SO SO MUCH for all the support and love on my announcement in my last post. Some of you had asked who my coach is, but I’m not saying quite yet, just in case something doesn’t work out, ya know? Don’t wanna jinx anything. ;)

Nonetheless, we’re starting later this week and I AM STOKED. Sorry for not giving a sufficient update, but I’ve been SWAMPED this week. Eww. But don’t worry, y‘all will be the first to hear about any news! :D

And I have a special way to say thank you planned for Friday….

ANYWHO! Onto the awesomeness of today’s post.

Since I’ve been super-dooper busy this week with group meetings/homework, it’s review time :)

Even though fall is approaching, there’s no sign of the Texas heat letting up. Smoothies, cold leftover chicken, and ice cubes in my armpits have offered some nice relief during scorchin days…

Oh…and ice cream.

Last week, I received this gloriousness on my doorstep. (cue angels singing)

GUYS. THIS STUFF IS DUH-LICIOUS.

So what’s so special about Arctic Zero??

According to their website:

Arctic Zero sought from its inception to offer families a low calorie dessert that would allow them to indulge in their frozen sweet tooth cravings without sacrificing a healthy lifestyle. As health issues rise across the country such as diabetes and obesity, Arctic Zero confronts this by providing a product that displaces myths that a dessert must be high in fat and calories in order to taste good.

They make frozen desserts that are lactose-intolerant friendly, gluten free, low glycemic, non-GMO, and use only natural or organic ingredients. Each pint is 150 calories and the bars are 85 calories. And did I mention there’s 14 grams of protein in each pint?!

Like they say on their website, it’s “A Protein Shake in Ice Cream Form.”

Pssshhh you had me at protein ;)

While I prefer real ice cream or froyo, sometimes my digestive system doesn’t, so I also LOVE the fact that it’s lactose intolerant friendly–perfect on my not-so-cooperative stomach haha Well let’s get on with the review, shall we??

—The Pints—

Vanilla Maple: In the past, I’d heard everyone rave about this flavor– that it was lifechangingly delicious and the perfect harmony of vanilla and maple. The verdict? I actually was hoping for a more vanilla flavor. I’m not a HUGE maple fan, so it was a bit too maple-y for my tastebuds haha It reminded me of maple syrup with a hint of vanilla thrown in there. The texture was nice though! I also put some in a smoothie with bananas and pb, it made a great base :)

Strawberry: I was a little worried about how this one would turn out since strawberry flavored stuff tends to be hit or miss. Dude, this was definitely a hit! It tasted exactly like good ol’ strawberry ice cream without being sickeningly sweet. YUM!

Chocolate Peanut Butter: Delicious! I had tried this one prior to the review, so I knew it was gonna rock. The chocolate and peanut butter balance each other SO well, and the texture is rich and decadent.

Chocolate: It reminded me of a Wendy’s frosty– creamy, chocolate-y, and not overly sweet. Just the way I like it! I decided to eat it with a warmed up coconut cashew quest bar :D

Cookies n’ Cream: One of my favorites!! When I first opened this one, I  was initially skeeved out by the gray color, but those feelings were quickly put aside when I tasted it. HOLY COW! It reminded me of an Oreo in ice cream form. I was sad to see this pint go haha

eaten al fresca :)

Mint Chocolate Cookie: IDENTICAL to a thin mint girl scout cookie. I can’t even begin to imagine the flavor explosion that would occur if you crumbled those cookies in this. :D I must admit, the flavor got kind of old after awhile…like I needed something salty to counteract the sweet, but still, it rocked my socks.

Coffee: I don’t like coffee, so I wasn’t a huge fan of this one. I took a few bites, but had to stop haha I’m saving the rest of the pint for my mom (she’s the world’s biggest coffee lover– she drinks it BLACK!! )

Pumpkin Spice: this is the flavor I was most excited to try. I mean, who doesn’t LOVE pumpkin, especially with fall right around the corner? :D OMG IT WAS SO GOOD!! The pumpkin flavor was accompanied by a “nutmeg” like flavor. It was like eating the smell of a pumpkin candle!

—The Bars—

Chocolate and Vanilla: The crunchy outer chocolate layer paired really well with the vanilla AND the chocolate flavors. The chocolate was my favorite of the two– it was just like the pint flavor–delicious :D

Strawberry and Orange Cream: The strawberry was tasty like the pint! How can you beat strawberries and chocolate? I wasn’t too much of a fan of the orange one though, I think I’ll save the other for my dad whenever my parents visit ;)

Overall–

  • Favorite: Pumpkin and Cookies and Cream tied
  • Least favorite: Coffee
  • Most surprising: Strawberry

I absolutely LOVED sampling these pints and bars and coming up with different concoctions–it’s like neverending versatility with these pints–smoothies, milkshakes, sundaes, straight up with a spoon, you name it!

With all the flavors to choose from, Arctic Zero is definitely going to become a favorite in this chick’s fridge. ;)

If you want to see if they sell their products in a store near you, or if you just want to learn more, don’t forget to hit up their website or Facebook page.

Thanks again for letting me do this review Arctic Zero, you guys are simply the BEST!!!

Have you ever tried Arctic Zero? What toppings would you use with it?

If you could make ANY flavor ice cream, what would it be? (I think I’d have to go with banana pb mmm elvis would be proud)

Oh and Happy What I Ate Wednesday everyone!!

  1. Ummm hiiii I need to get that pumpkin flavor and NOW… no I am not exaggerating ;) I want to try the bars too, but I have yet to see them! I do like Arctic Zero stuff alot, but not as a replacement of icecream/ frozen yogurt, just for something different!

  2. Hey! So I LOVE arctic zero (It’s gotten me through some bad nights, haha) and cookies and cream is my favorite!

However, did you hear about the recent calorie news? Apparently, they’re not as low calorie as they advertise. I’m really not sure who to believe, but you might want to read the article!

It’s still lower than most ice cream, but if it really isn’t as low as it says, I’ll probably just buy real ice cream!

Let me know what you think! :/

  3. These look so good!!! I think I would especially love the Chocolate PB and and Cookies and Cream. Interesting link to the video in a comment above though, I wonder if that’s true! Either way, I wouldn’t be eating an entire pint in one sitting, but it’s scary to know that companies can get away with that stuff!

  4. Eeeee! Congrats on your exciting news, girlie! I was gone when you posted about it, so I get to get all excited for you now :D Can’t wait to hear how it’s going!

I’ve always been curious about Arctic Zero, but never tried it because they don’t sell it in Canada. I’ve got to admit that I’m not keen on anything that tries to be an ice cream replacement (because we know there’s no replacing the real deal), but I suppose it would be okay to eat once in a while since you can’t really eat ice cream 24/7…

  5. Arctic Zero sOunds amazing..ice cream is my ultimate weakness! If I could choose any flavour, I’d probably go all out and say peanut butter cookie dough…although I’d be equally happy with a plain bowl of vanilla!

  6. I actually heard the same thing has stated on previous comment that the ice cream isnt low calorie or that healthy. I read it on hungry-girl that the calories are close to 290 :/….I rather just have real ice cream or fro-yo

  7. This looks so good. I used to be all over the mint and chocolate ice-cream combo – but that’s gotten old. Now – I love strawberries and cream, or blackberry and yogurt. That’s why scoop ice-cream is the best because you get to mix and match ;)

  8. My oh my, these look tasty. Especially PUMPKIN! Obvi. I can’t believe you don’t like coffee, I love my coffee black:) Your mom has good taste ha ha.

  9. You have no idea how jealous I am of you! I had Arctic zero everyday when I was in the states in may and I miss it sooo much (it isn’t sold in Canada). I searched far and wide for the mint one because I LOVE mint icecream, but never got a chance to try it. This is such a thorough and great review!

  10. I LOVE Arctic Zero!! I buy the Mint Chocolate Cookie and Cookies and Cream flavors all the time (I actually always make sure I have at least one pint on hand). I don’t think they in any way replace ice cream (which I also always have on hand), but they’re a great protein-packed snack! I’ve never seen the Pumpkin Spice flavor, but now I need to find it. ;) The ice cream bars are new-to-me too! So excited!

  11. omg I’m so jealous of your delivery!! My local kroger starting selling Arctic Zero a few months back but….it cost 5 bucks per pint. I love the cookies and cream , coffee and any of the chocolate varieties. Of course those are the only ones I have tried though haha

  12. Oh I wish we could get this stuff in the UK! It looks so delicious, especially the strawberry and the cookies and cream :-) Quite jealous, if only you could send some over to me without it melting! ;-)

Excited to hear your news, can’t wait to hear more about how the training all goes!
