Simply Delicious

WOW YOU GUYS!!!

Thank you SO much for the love and support on yesterday’s post! I’m always nervous/hesitant before I hit publish with personal stuff like that– it can be scary putting yourself out there. But you guys only offered the utmost support and I will be forever appreciative!

I can’t wait to see where this journey ends up and I’m glad I have you guys there to accompany me :D

Last week, I received some samples of Simply Bars to try.

 So what are Simply Bars??

UMM ONE OF THE MOST DELICIOUS PROTEIN BARS I’VE EVER HAD. Not to mention they’re gluten free, dairy free, and chock full of fiber.

…sorry for the outburst…they’re just that good haha

Here’s a little about the bars:

The Simply Bar is a high protein, low sugar, low fat, low glycemic bar with only a handful of natural ingredients. Founder Cathy Richards created the SimplyBars after experiencing difficulties finding snacks that didn’t upset her stomach. She has Crohn’s Disease.

Each bar contains 16 g protein, paired with 2-4g of fat, under 3 g of sugar, 4 g of fiber, and 160 calories or less. Each bar is based on Non GMO soy crisps along with organic brown rice syrup, and has NO sugar alcohols.

The Simply Bar makes a great snack for athletes (pre and post workout), vegans, health conscience individuals and those suffering from Celiac, Crohn’s and IBS. In addition to being a great snack, The Simply Bar is gluten free, low GI, dairy free, Kosher and easy-to-digest.

I’d seen other bloggers, especially Canadians, rave about how delicious they were and I loved the nutrition stats, so I contacted the company. They were so friendly and like a speeding bullet, Jesseny sent me the most AMAZING sample pack!

(note: I wasn’t paid to say any of this– these are solely my opinions)

~~~~
Caramel Peanut: This was the first one I tried. HOLY COW it set the standards high right off the bat. This bar tasted identical to Cracker Jacks! There were chunks of peanut dispersed throughout that added a delicious crunch. Also, it had the texture of a rice krispy treat and it smelled like homemade peanut brittle. Major deliciousness right there.
PB Chocolate: Ehh this one was okay. My expectations were high, so I ripped open the package like a hyena when I had it pre workout one morning. It tasted much more chocolate-y than peanut butter-y, and y’all know me, I like my peanut butter :)  I couldn’t really taste the peanutness until the after flavor hit me, and even then it was mild. I enjoyed it overall though!
Lemon Coconut: MY FAVORITE by far! Right from the get-go, it smelled strongly of lemon. In addition, it had that delicious rice krispy texture, and left a wonderful lemon aftertaste. It kinda reminded me of a Lemon Luna bar. What was super cool though– it had ginormous chunks of coconut shavings. YESSSSS :D
see the chunk of amazingness?!
Cinnamon Pecan: I don’t have a good pic of this one since I had it in class and forgot. Epic  fail. Sadly, this was my least favorite– I’m not a cinnamon fan (yes blogworld, you can kill me now haha) and that was the main flavor of this bar. But, if you like ALOT of cinnamon with a hint of nutiness, then this is for you!
In addition to these flavors, they also have Cocoa Raspberry and Cocoa Coffee, along with new protein chips! You can check out all of their products here.
Since they are so low in calories, I would recommend eating them with something else. I found myself kinda ravenous if I just ate the bar alone for a snack, so I’d add in an apple or mixed nuts.
All I know, is that I’m TOTALLY going to be ordering a lemon coconut or caramel peanut box in the future. If you’re interested in buying some, here’s a list of the stores they sell their bars in. Sadly, there aren’t any Texas stores, but thank goodness for online!! :D
Thanks again to Jesseny and the folks at Simply Bar! You officially have a new addict! :)
Have you ever tried Simply Bars? If you could have any flavor bar, what would you create?
  1. oh my goodness…lemon and coconut flavor!!?? SOLD. I need to find these! :) If I created a bar it wouldn’t probably be a peanutbutter, coconut kind of flavor..i think they go well together..some may not agree tho!
  2. i really loved the lemon coconut Simply Bar. But i wasnt a huge fan of the others. I packed them on a 20 plane ride, and they were a life saver!! I didnt like the cinnamon or chocolate esspresso one.. I found them bitter and dry. id like to try the caramel one though!
  3. I really liked the lemon coconut!
    Wasnt a huge fan of the chocolate raspberry (which i was hoping to love!) and chocolate espresso.. These are perfect for packing for camping, or long air plane flights (which is what I brought them along for)
    I might try them again, but wasnt such a fan in general!
  4. It’s times like this when my allergy to peanuts really becomes a pesky bugger. I’ve never tried these because I do believe they’re labelled as containing traces of peanuts, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to! The lemon coconut one sounds amazing, but I wouldn’t mind seeing something with a honey flavor… like almonds and honey, or even coconut and honey. I don’t know how it would come off in bar form, but it’s amaaaaazing as a sandwich :D
  5. Anything with coconut would be perfectly okay with me:)
    I still haven’t tried these bars yet, but have heard great things! I don’t know about the lemon in there though. I’d love coconut + peanut butter, or coconut and um pumpkin ha ha. That might be wishful thinking, I haven’t seen any pumpkin bars like this.
  6. I’m in the same boat as Amanda – I can’t eat these because of my allergies! :( Sigh. It seems like there are NO good energy/protein bars out there for those of us allergic to nuts! But if I could have any flavour of bar I would love a pumpkin spice one!
  7. Hey been reading your blog for a while but haven’t commented before!
    Anyway I was reading this post thinking that being a) vegan and b) from the UK that I would not be able to have these bars but checked it out and I can yay! I have just placed an order for these bars and can’t wait to try them!
  8. The two that you didn’t review are my favourites :p haha your favourite is my least favourite – way too sweet for my tastebuds! I want to try the caramel one now, though. I haven’t yet!
  9. I don’t think I’ve ever tried Simply Bars before. I’ve tried Good N’ Natural, an all natural version of the Zone Perfect Bars (forgot the name….), Luna bars, Larabars, etc! I’ll have to look for these now though! They sound delicious! :D
