Midweek Motivation–Fitness Idols

Hey everyone!

Thank you all SO much for the support on my last post, you have no idea what your encouraging words mean to me :) I personally invite all of you to my apartment for a dance party! WOOO

Things have been going freaking AMAZING on this new plan. BUT I’m not spilling any beans quite yet. I plan on doing progress posts every Monday for the next 12 weeks with thoughts, pictures, and meals. If I can squeeze in some time this weekend, I’m going to make a new page dedicated to the journey back to strength :)

Well, today’s my LONG day on campus…aka 8am-8:40pm….insert grossed out face here:

my phone camera is so jacked up. I think I need to reboot that thing

I will admit, all of it is super fun…just super long. :P Probably gonna involve taking over a table with my mound of stuff as usual

Since I still have to go pack my lunch, I thought I’d dedicate today’s post to:

My fitness idols.

The women I’m about to show you are my biggest FITspirations. I admire them so much and could only wish to attain their physiques/health one day. They’re not only physcially fit, but all of them seem so genuine, humble and kind! They inspire me to stay focused on my dreams, push harder, and live the s%*# out of each and every day.

Sally Pearson

I FREAKING LOVE THIS LADY. First saw her at the Olympics this past year when she blew everyone’s doors off in the hurdle trials. Her form was textbook perfect and speed was out of this world. So, I looked up videos on youtube of her past races and checked out her bio. She’s 25, from Australia, and is the 2011 World champion and 2012 Olympic champion in the 100 meter hurdles….in other words a beast.

Erin Stern

She’s one of the first inspirations I’d ever had. When I first began lifting 2+ years ago, I saw her on the cover of an Oxygen magazine and fell in love with her genuine spirit and zest for life. And the fact that she’s self-taught/self-coached is pretty epic too. She’s also a really talented writer– her facebook statuses are usually little ranom motivational poems she comes up with!

~~~~
Dana Linn Bailey
I talked a lot about my admiration for her in this post when I met her at Dallas Europa. SUCH a nice and funny person and a true role-model in the fitness world. AND she can bench more than most dudes haha
~~~~

Sam Stoser

Yes, another Aussie haha She’s an AMAZING tennis player and when I saw an interview on ESPN with her, I just loved her passion for her sport and how hard she trains to be the best she can be. Really inspirational– and holy crap look at those shoulders!! She’s just plain cool.

~~~~
Carmelita Jeter
this always makes me crack up haha
Umm, can someone say awesome?! When she and the US relay team broke the long standing Olympic record in London, I was SO excited! Seeing how sweet/thankful/awesome she was about the win in interviews post race made me really look up to her. That and she’s freaking RIPPED.
I think it’s safe to say have girl crushes on all of them, no shame whatsoever ;)
They put the beast in beastly.
And I’m currently putting the pro in procrastinate haha
Off to get ready for class! Have a rockin day!!!
Who are your biggest fitness inspirations? Why do you admire them?
  1. The word thinspiration has always cringed me out..as for fitspiration- I love it!! Although these athletes may have different goals than I personally do, they are proof that anything is possible with perseverance and hard work…and that alone is inspiring enough! Thanks for sharing, girl!
  2. Haha! –> “And I’m currently putting the pro in procrastinate.” That is soooo me right now. I love this list. I especially love Erin Stern and DLB! Erin’s poetry is so amazing and I love how to compares her body as her ‘canvas.’ That’s how I view mine sometimes when I want to build muscle. It gives me inspiration! And as for DLB… well enough said. Work, hustle, KILL. :)
  3. I love the “Strong is Beautiful” tennis campaign, it always inspires me to stay/get strong and look after myself. Long days on campus always have their advantages and disadvantages. It’s great when you find a good spot to unload all your stuff and get in some study time :)
  4. More than 12 hours on campus? Ooof! Girl, YOU are a beast ;) I was just thinking the other day that it’s going back to school time, and I kind of miss being in school, but those long hours are something I could definitely do without. Then again, my school wasn’t nearly as gorgeous as yours, so I guess that would make a difference ;)
    Happy Wednesday, love!
  5. Great inspirations! I love tennis ladies–they are always so strong and kick-ass! Definitely excited for the US Open. I’ve loved the Williams sisters for forever, plus now Venus is going vegan?!? Even better! Love your fitness idols, and that you chose ladies who are great role models in addition to fitness models. You gotta have a balance of both!
  6. YOU are my inspiration, Zandra!! :) I’ve been running a lot to start training for a half marathon but this is a good reminder that I need to keep weights involved! I wanna build a little muscle!! :)
  7. I agree with Erin Stern, I also really like Nicole Wilkins and Brooke Erickson- Brooke is a local, she lifts at my gym and she just wont her pro card this last year and it’s great to watch her grow! It def give me hope as she was really small when she originally started.
  8. I’m on my way over for that dance party right now! By the time I arrive in Texas, you’ll be finished with your workout and ready to get yo groove on, yeah?
    Every one of these ladies inspires me! Any woman who has achieved athletic success, while remaining humble and grounded, is a huge idol of mine! I already wrote this on Instagram, but some of my favorites include Jamie Eason, Lolo Jones, and former US soccer players Julie Foudy and Brandi Chastain. I also love Hope Solo! (Love you more though!) xoxo <3
  9. Oh my gosh that is a ridiculously long day!! I don’t know how you manage that! I’m definitely coming to the party though ;-)
    You’re one of the women who inspires me in terms of fitness Alexandra, I’ve always admired your dedication and your motivation! Over here in the UK I would say that Victoria Pendleton and Jessica Ennis are big inspirations after watching the Olympics – both amazing athletes and both brilliantly dedicated!
  10. Go the Aussies!!! I’ve met Sam Stosur, and she was nowhere near as beastly as that in real life. She must do some serious pumping up before tournaments, haha! I would say I liked Sally Pearson, but in Oz she is one of those people that is shoved in your face so much you begin to resent them… Erin Stern and DLB – goes without saying how much of an inspiration they both are to me!!!
