The End to an Epic Week

Hey everyone and HAPPY FRIDAY!

Thank you all SO much for all the support and kind comments on my last post :) Truly, every comment makes my day, I can’t believe the amount of care and support you guys have to offer!!

Well, being three days in to the new semester, I’ve kinda got a sense of how things are going to pan out…aka classes are SO easy. Compared to the hell I just went through with o-chem 1 and 2 over summer, this is gonna be a cake walk because it’s actually classes I ENJOY!! (except for political science that is, but even the prof himself said it was an easy A haha)

What I figure– since I won’t be stressing about classes as much, and since I have more free time sadly without Kovu around, I can use it to focus on my training and gaining more weight. I’ve been researching trainers and hope to have a massive update on that verrrryyyy soon :) BUT in the mean time, I just gotta keep eating more.

Speaking of eating more, I got some amazing samples to review from Annie over at Larabar the other day!

Plain and simple: I love these bars. Minimal ingredients with no added crap you can’t pronounce, convenience, delicious variety of flavors, and rich in healthy energy to fuel even the most active person. AND most flavors are paleo approved! I love having them before working out or as a snack between classes for brain fuel :) I only wish they were a bit bigger.

Cashew cookie: 2nd fave of the bunch! Ingredients are just dates and cashews. The sweetness of the dates kind of overpowers the cashew flavor, but when you get a bite full of cashews, it’s like a freight train of flavor hits your tastebuds! 10/10

Key Lime Pie: Ingredients are dates, cashews, almonds, unsweetened coconut, and lime juice. It’s tart, exactly like a creamy slice of key lime pie. The lime flavor is super intense, but the sweetness of the dates balances it well. And the nuts are like pie crust! 9/10

Coconut Cream Pie: MY FAVE!!!! Ingredients are dates, unsweetened coconut, almonds, cashews, and extra virgin coconut oil. This bar smells JUST like this homemade coconut cream pie from a cafe down the street from my house. Super chewy, coconut-laden texture and vanilla-ish sweetness with a wonderful aftertaste. the sweetness kind of reminded me of the whip cream on top of the pies! Lemme tell ya, if you like coconut, this one’s for you! 11/10

Cappuccino: Ingredients are fair trade certified coffee, dates, cashews, almonds, and vanilla extract. I’m not a fan of coffee so this review is a bit biased haha Right off the bat, I noticed it had a weird smell. It tasted like you’re drinking coffee with vanilla flavored dates in it and there was a bitter coffee aftertaste. BUT I’m not a coffe gal, so you may like it. 4/10

Overall, I think this picture sums up my feelings about Larabars…

Thanks again Annie and Larabar for letting me review your snacks! I can’t wait to try out every flavor out there, I feel like such a Larabar newbie haha :D

~~~~
Well, I guess that’s about it from me, I gotta go get ready for Invertebrate Zoology and Ecology. But before I go, I’ll leave you with a picture I put on Instagram Wednesday night…
Yeah, I don’t think it’ll be hard to get used to this ;) God’s creation never ceases to amaze me!
Plans this weekend:
  • check out local stores, explore the town, and go shopping
  • walk along the coast and take pictures with my nikon
  • laundry
  • blog
  • vaccuum (i can never spell that right haha)
  • homework
  • meal prep
  • SLEEP! :D
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! Enjoy every second of it!!! :D
What’s your favorite Larabar flavor? Weekend plans?
PS– please keep my dad in your prayers this weekend, he has to get an infected tooth pulled! :(
    • Hey man, don’t feel bad, it’s hard to get it all in!! I like to add in spoonfuls of nut butter to smoothies– great way to get in the needed calories without feeling overly stuffed, ya know? :)
      • Yup, got that! And add almond butter to my banana or apple snacks, too ;)
        AND.. lately, been adding full-fat coconut milk to the smoothies too! Such a curse to be skinny :P
  1. God’s creation truly amazes me 24/7. It’s just so beautiful. I will be praying for your dad for sure. The dentist & tooth issues = no fun.
    I’m so happy that classes are a breeze for you this semester Alex! You totally deserve that after all of your hard work this summer.
    Larabars are so good. Coconut cream pie is one of my favorites too as well as carrot cake.
    Have a blessed weekend <3
  2. So glad you’re enjoying your classes actually,Alexandra! :) You’ve truly worked hard enough already this summer,so this is just what you deserve after all of that stress.
    Larabars are truly AMAZING,I love those little fruity companions soooo much and I’m so sad they’re not sold here in Germany! Until now,I’ve only tried the chocolate chip cookie dough- and the apple pie-flavored larabars,but my friend sent me some recently and I am setting high hopes in the coconut cream pie one! So glad you liked it,it makes me even more excited to try it after all,hehe! :D
  3. Aw that’s rough about your dad, I just had to get a root canal and the days leading up to it are excruciating pain-wise. But he’ll feel like a new guy once it’s out! Prayers comin’ his way :)
    My favorite Larabar is either Cashew Cookie or Carrot Cake. Or Lemon Bar. They’re all awesome haha. I could eat like 10 at a time if that was a normal thing :P .
    And weekend plans, I’m going bowling with some friends tomorrow, and I suck so that’s gonna be hilarious! I’m totally jeally that you get to explore a new town and take pictures, that is literally one of my FAVORITE things to do. I love seeing little shops and cafes or whatever in towns, they’re so cute, it’s like an adventure to me. Can’t wait to see your pictures! :)
  4. They stopped selling Larabars in the UK about three years ago, so I haven’t tried one in a while (it was a sad say indeed) but it’s a shame they discontinued the Cocoa Mole bar (Chocolate/Chili) because it was absolutely amazing.
    The Lemon Bar was lovely too though – reminded me a lot of lemon meringue pie.
  5. Hope your dad is okay!! And the tooth gets fixed!
    I’ve only ever tried one kind of lara bar shockingly enough! And it wasn’t coconut!! Who am I?!
    I’m happy to hear this schedule will be easier on you. You definitely deserve the break after all the stress after this summer!
  6. Hey girl! I couldn’t comment on your last post but EEEEEEEE!!! How excited am I for you?!!??! Your new school sounds absolutely amazing, and it’s really great to hear that you feel so good being there. Love it when life plays out that way :D I hope you have an amazing year, kick some serious booty, and make some awesome memories :)
  7. Yay! I’m so glad this semester is looking to be a good one for you. You deserve a bit of a break. :)
    I can’t eat Larabars because of my allergies, but I’ve made my own coconut flavoured ones before and I loved them!
    Good luck to your dad hun – I hope it goes well for him!
  8. have fun this weekend girl!! explore LOTS and report back! you’re going to have such a blast! btw got my chike today and dude the blender bottle is legit! thank god it came beause i just lost the wire ball to my old one! wooop
  9. I LOVE Larabars! I don’t like anything key lime so I stay away from that one. And i haven’t tried the cappuccino or cashew cookie–but I love cashews and the taste of coffee flavor (although I don’t drink coffee) so I really want to try those! Have you ever tried the blueberry muffin ones? those are my current favorite! and of course apple pie
  10. I’m glad you finally get a break, after all that hard work you’ve put into o-chem. It sounded miserable, but I’m glad you really toughed it out and finished strong! :)
    My favorite Larabar flavor.. Would have to be the peanut butter chocolate chip! That stuff is the bomb! I think I’d really like to try the coconut cream pie and cappucino, too, though! Yummy… :P ~
    Have a great weekend, Zandra! Go and get some much-needed sleep! You deserve it! ;)
  11. I haven’t tried any of those lara bar flavours. I have only tried a few, and haven’t been a huge fan of any because all the flavours I find are the boring ones like: Peanut Butter, or Cashew. It isn’t that they are bad, it’s just they are no where near as exciting as how I would imagine key lime pie! Sounds like you have some great weekend plans, enjoy :)
  12. Ahhh I love Lara bars!! My FAVORITE is the peanut butter chocolate chip… Although the peanut butter cookie is pretty amaze-balls too. As for a paleo friendly version, I love the Key Lime pie and Coconut one too!! Hope you have a great weekend :)
  13. I’m so so glad that your classes started well and that you’re enjoying them so far!! They sound really good. Looking forward to more updates and your update about the trainer situation :-)
    That photo is beautiful, I’m am rather jealous! I hope you have a fantastic time exploring the town and the coast this weekend lovely :-) My plans are to workout, bake, buy the books on my reading list for the new semester (ahh!) and spend time with Tom!
  14. You always make me feel like a dumbass with all your intellectual classes and crazy-good grades:p. Anywayz, I’m happy to hear you loving your classes this semester!
    We don’t have Lara bars here, we have Nakd bars instead , which are pretty much the same thing – just dried fruit n’ nuts. My favourite is the cocoa orange one. I have to agree that they’re waay too small, I always double fist it with bars:).
    Can’t wait to hear about the trainer, and keep up with gaining strength girl!
    Xxx
  15. Ahhh so glad things are going wonderfully so far! Those sunset pictures, ah-mazing, no wonder you are happy to be there, among many other reasons of course :) I actually don’t care for lara bars too too much.. I mean they are alright, but not my favorite. Although I haven’t tried the coconut cream pie ones so maybe my opinion would change if I tried that kind! Thanks for the review, always good to know what’s tasty out there :)
    Have a glorious weekend!
  16. Larabars are the best! I’m gonna have to give that coconut one a try since I’ve been loving all things coconut lately. The chocolate chip brownie and pineapple upside down ones are my favorites right now, but that key lime pie one tastes so much like a pie it’s crazy!
    Enjoy your weekend, looks like you’ve got some super fun plans :D
  17. Your reviews are much more in depth than mine haha. I LOVE LARABARS though :D Did you try the key lime one before?! I literally ate like a centimeter of each of the bars so I could try them all haha i was way too anxious to wait
  18. The coconut Cream Pie is definitely my favorite as well! Banana Bread and Gingersnap tie for second. I am just WAITING for the day Larabar comes out with a Pumpkin Pie flavor. I think every food blogger might just die :)
  19. I am so freaking happy for you and your new school, apartment, future! That’s really too bad about Kovu but I have faith that it’ll all work out! Take care and I hope you’re having a great weekend!
  20. Wow, those pictures are stunning! You’re lucky to be there and doing classes you’re enjoying – and it must make the chemistry hell worth it if it makes the others seem easy!
    I’ve never tried Larabars but Nakd bars over here do a cashew cookie and it’s my favourite… I love the sound of the key lime and coconut though :-)
  21. Chocolate chip is definitely my favorite larabar. I love it so much that I made my own version of it (in raw cookie form) to save me some money. More college-girl friendly so I can survive this semester. ;)
  22. Sorry I’m reading this so late, love :( Oh dear :( How is your Daddy? I hope everything went well <3
    As for LARABARS, I've never tried one :o I think you know me, sis! I'm not much of a bar girl… I think the cashew one would be my favourite, though. SIMPLE.
    I always love you reviews, seriously! I still remember your jerky review…. LOVED THAT <3
    • My dad did great, thanks for asking! Tooth’s all healed up now thank goodness! :) And dude, I know you’d flip for the cashew one, it is DEEEVINE. But I’m still convinced the coconut is laced with drugs haha You gotta try them one day girl!! :D
