Memories Monday– Color Run February 2012

Good morning Blog World!!

Today, I thought I’d re-put-up a post from my old page. I’ve been swamped with chemistry podcasts and homework, so i thought it’d be fun to reflect on a fun memory :) Does anyone else do that when you’re stressed?

I also kinda wanted to post it to add to my Fitness Accomplishments page since I really want this blog to focus on positive, epic fitness feats.

So without further ado– here’s to celebrating memories on this marvelous Monday! :D

Let me just start off by saying, if a Color Run  (click to find out more) is coming to a town near you, GO!!!!!! PLEASE GO!!!!! It’s the funnest and most epic event I’ve ever been to. :D

Saturday, February 18th, we went to pick up our pre-race packets.

What’s fun about this run is that there’s no chip times or winners, it’s just a chance to let loose and be wild without any competitiveness…unless you count whoever gets the most color as the winner haha ;)

In our bags, we got a t-shirt, a nifty sweatband, some tattoos and a bunch of random race flyers.

Sunday was Color Run day!

We woke up at the crack o’ dawn and all got decked out. And I got my game face on.

We left the house around 6:45 so we could get a good parking spot, find free stuff, etc. We got to Fair Park in Dallas around 8:00ish and jumped around taking pre-race pics while freezing before the race began at 9:00.

Since we had to wear white to get the full color fun, I kinda felt like a nurse, or a puffy cloud just waiting to be messed up. It was POURING all day Saturday, so thankfully all the clouds went away and it ended up being an absolutely FABULOUS morning around 45ish degrees.

Then the race began! There were 4 color stations where you got blasted with powdery dye–yellow, pink, purple, and green.

When you crossed the finish line, you took out the color pack given to you in your bag and toss it in the air, on your friends, or slap some butts with colored hands. Needless to say, the end was like a rainbow vomited everywhere!!

We took in all the fun festivities and were in awe of the amount of people there. There were at least 10,000!

Oh and after the race, we loaded up on some free snacks…I took full advantage of the word “free” ;)

Then we headed home, chatting about what a FUN time we had, changed our clothes and went to lunch at Fuddruckers :D

Somehow we managed to get all the color out of our hair, shoes, and eyes…but our scalps were rainbow-y for awhile haha

All in all, that weekend will go down in history as one of the funnest/greatest of my life.

What’s the craziest/funnest race you’ve ever participated in?

 Have a great day!

  1. Omg this looks SO fun…love that you did it with your parents :) ! In India, we have an annual festival known as “Holi”. Although it has a religious aspect to it, it’s also referred to as a festival of colors. On the day, everyone wears white and use an array of colored powders and water guns to smear on others :) !

  2. I remember reading about this and thinking it sounded like so much fun! If I could actually run I would love to give something like this a go :-) Hope you’ve had a great start to the week so far!

  3. I ran in a Color Me Rad 5K over Memorial Day weekend.. and it was just like your color run! It was SO much fun and wasn’t a stressful race at all! There was no timing. so i wasn’t worried about splits or anything like that! Looks like you had a blast as well!

  4. I definitely dwell on the good memories when I need a bit of motivation or happiness… and this is certainly a fantastic one to remember! What a blast this was :) The color run is coming to Boston this summer but it sold out in like…. 4 minutes! Boooooo :(

  5. Dude I’m so jealous that you got to do the color run!
It actually is going to be in Ann Arbor this summer and I freaked out and always pooed my pants cuz I was so excited….and then I waited to long and it is all sold out – SAD DAY!
I hope it comes back to me next year because it looks like you had a BLAST doing it!!!!!
Ps I watched your rant video about just eating whatever the f*** you want – girl you rock! Seriously go for it!
Nobody has the perfect body, and always trying to be perfect is just so difficult because it can’t exist. I love myself WAY more now then when I was at my lowest weight. I workout less because I don’t always want to. I’m certainly not obese yet so I think I’ll be just find. Plus, guys don’t mind a little something extra (yes a little extra fat hahah) to hold on to if you get what I mean…. ;)
I believe that life is sooo much more than killing yourself in the gym and watching your cals and macros.

    • YES!! Life IS so much more :) I plan on doing a follow up post soon about it all– even though I’ve just started not tracking macros and stuff, I feel so free and alive, ya know??

  6. awww this looks SO fun!!!! I think the color run (or Color Me Rad, same kinda thing) was in Philly yesterday – I hope they keep doing these in the future so I can do one!! GOOD LUCK with your chem stuff!

  7. Whoa I want to do that race!!! I have only done ‘normal’ races, haha. I didn’t know these types existed and now I must find one!

Hope your studies are going well girlie. I’m sure it is a bit stressful so make sure you make time for some fun too because you deserve it!!! :)

  8. YOU DID THE COLOR RUN? I am extremely jealous. It was too late to register when it was in Austin, so I missed out. Plus I think I had something going on that day, but uhhhh. I want a bunch of paint and stuff exploding on me lol. You look awesome though!

You have chemistry podcasts and I have accounting podcasts lol our summers are pretty sad.

  9. Oh my goodness, this looks like a ton of fun!! I definitely look back on my memories when I need more motivation in my life! I didn’t even know these type of races existed! I think this is the only type of running race I would ever enter
